Weekly Note: Celebrating Friends
Plus the middle grade landscape, rejection, and what should I read next?
This week has flown by! It included a book launch for
(Ava Lin: One of a Kind), co-working in a coffee shop, lots of work on my nonfiction MG, a new book release for another friend, Cindy Chang (How to Draw a Secret), a gymnastics competition, and exploring a cool used bookstore. Plus all the in-between things like housework, driving to afterschool activities, remembering how to drive and dress in torrential rain, and working out 🏋️♀️.How was your week? Tell me about your highlights (or lows).
p.s. some of the links are bookshop.org affiliate links so I might earn a small commission if you buy from them, but as always I encourage you to visit your local independent bookstore instead. This month I’ll be donating any affiliate earnings to the LA wildfire relief.
On Kidlit Survival Guide this week Vicky talked about rejection and how she deals with it. In Monday’s post we’re pivoting from rejection to joy.
Middle Grade author Sam Subity shared his latest data collection and analysis on the middle grade book landscape which is always fascinating to read.
Great advice from
about how to choose your next project.
I finished Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros. Just like her previous two books in the series, it ended on a major cliffhanger. Will I read the next one? Not sure. I’m struggling with what to read next. Any suggestions?
That’s all for this week!
With love,
Christine xo

Thank you for celebrating Ava Lin with me! ❤️
Book suggestion for you! The Fellowship of Puzzle Makers by Samuel Burr. It’s about love and family and finding your people and was exactly what I needed to read this week. Hope it brings you joy!
