Every year I participate in 12 Days of Christmas for Writers by Julie Hedlund. She sends an email each morning inviting us to reflect on the year gone by and look ahead to the one waiting in the wings. I love this process as it’s so easy to forget what went right in any year, let alone another year overshadowed by such loss, fear, and worry.
On day 3, Julie invites us to write down all our successes from the year and to share them.
I can’t include every item from my list of successes here, but here are some of the highlights of 2021:
I launched three chapter books (The Wish Library)
I received a great SLJ review for Snow Day in May (book 1) and they included it on a list of 15 Funny Chapter Books for Emerging Readers
I wrote book 4 in the series, The Wish That Got Away (releasing April 2022)
I visited over 30 schools virtually including one in Dubai, and an entire school district. Most of the visits were while my own kids were also at home.
I had a super-fun in-person book launch/talent show for book 3 of The Wish Library, Together Forever.
I sold four articles to writersdigest.com
And I got this amazing news
I hope you can look back on the past year and come up with a list of your own. Nothing is too small. And as Julie said in her latest video, surviving is a success.
World Read Aloud Day 2022
Once again, I’m offering free 20-minute classroom visits for World Read Aloud Day on February 2, 2022. If you’d like to book a visit, email me. You can see who else is available for visits via Kate Messner’s website.
Happy Holidays and I wish you all a brighter 2022.
