Like most of you, my social media and news feeds have been full of the photos and videos of the devastation in Lahaina, Maui. The loss of life, homes, businesses, and history is hard to fathom.
As you may remember we were on Maui just a few weeks ago and spent an afternoon enjoying the shops, galleries, and the waterfront in Lahaina. I bought an ornament featuring the famous Banyan Tree to put on our Christmas tree from one of the stores on Front Street.
But to the people who have lost everything it’s more than a tourist destination to bring a souvenir back from, it’s their home, their livelihood, their family, their community, and their history. If you’re able to, please consider donating to one of the places listed below that I’m including in place of my regular “obsessed with” section.

Writing Tip of the Week
I personally don’t follow the advice to write every day, I simply can’t and if I thought that was the only way to be a writer I would have given up long ago. However, when I’m actively working on a project I will at least think about that project every day and take notes, or research, or daydream about the manuscript. That way my brain is still working on the story in the background and making connections so that when I come back to the work, I’m ready to go.
Writing Prompt
Write a letter to your happy place.
Until next week, happy writing and reading. Let me know what you’re thinking about this week.
