I’m away on a writing retreat this weekend so as I write I’m listening to the ocean and the quiet tapping of my friends working on future books. I can’t wait to see what we all come up with.
Currently obsessed with
🧘♀️I’m still walking 5 days a week but I’m also adding in mat pilates a few days a week. I love how it makes my body feel afterwards. I use the Peloton app which I also love for outdoor walking workouts.
🎙️If you haven’t already listened to the newest kidlit podcast on the block, check out Joanna Ho and Caroline Pritchard’s Kidlit Happy Hour.
📰 I love Julie Falatko’s newsletter anyway but I’m particularly excited about her new project: using short stories as inspiration for picture books. I’m going to have a go this weekend!
Writing Tip of the Week
Don’t Write.
What? You’re supposed to be giving us writing tips, I hear you cry. But this week take some time to do something else. Dive into a new book. Try art journalling. Start a new workout practice like pilates or walking. Go to an art museum. Soak in some inspiration and come back refreshed.
Writing Prompt
What can you hear right now? What can you see? What can you smell? What can you touch? And yes what can you taste? Bring all your senses into a poem or short story.
Until next week, happy writing and reading. Let me know what you’re thinking about this week.
