Another week has flown by and I have not spent nearly enough time writing and I’m beating myself up for it. I’m looking at my never-ending to-do list and I’m hoping that next week has far less urgent items on it and more time for writing. Or instead of hoping, I could put my writing at the top of my to-do list and prioritizing it as much as I prioritize my daily walk.
Currently obsessed with
📚 Tom Lake by Ann Patchett*. Why yes, this was also the top of my list last week. And so it remains. I just finished it yesterday and I’m still obsessed. If you listen to podcasts, I recommend The Shit No one Tells You About Writing and their interview with Ann really inspired me. It’s a great case for know the writing rules and then breaking them.
🖼️ 3 Fish Studios My Hawaii print and the other three prints arrived. They’re so beautiful and I can’t wait to hang them.
🌺 Books for Maui. There’s still time to bid on almost 1000 items in this auction. It closes tonight (Aug 25) at midnight HST. If you would like to bid on a Virtual School Visit with me, you can bid here.
Writing Tip of the Week
In my Creator Chats (see here and here) I ask my guests what their prewriting rituals are. This week, have a think about a ritual you can put in place, something as simple as lighting a candle, that will signal your intent to start writing.
Writing Prompt
Take a walk and snap a photo of something that catches your eye. Write something based on that photo.
