August: You Get a Free Gift & You Get a Free Gift & You...
Scroll down to wish for a preorder surprise!
Well it’s back to school time. How are you feeling? I’m nervous of course but I am very much looking forward to having some quiet time to work. Juggling kids, writing, and other big life events (more on that next month) has been tough. I moderated a SCBWI panel last month on this very subject and I know it resonated with a lot of people. Reply and let me know how you manage the juggle.
Here’s one writer’s advice:
Speaking of juggling, as well as writing the fourth Wish Library book this summer, I’ve been writing some freelance articles. The first one was just published on writersdigest.com. If you’re a picture book writer, you’re going to want to take a look! It’s also worth a peek for teachers and parents if you’re looking for new books to read-aloud this fall.
PREORDER GIFT for The Wish Library: Together Forever (3)
Book three in The Wish Library series is whizzing onto shelves and doorstops on October 1! If you’ve already preordered, thank you. And if you haven’t, there’s still plenty of time. Preorders really help authors so I super appreciate it! There’s something in it for you, too. As well as a fabulous (if I say so myself) book, you can get a free gift! Yes! Fill out this form and I’ll send you something rather snazzy. As always, order Together Forever via my local indie if you’d like a signed copy.
If you don’t already know about my chapter book series for 7-10 year olds, here’s what one reviewer had to say:
“My second grader and I read lots of books together. We usually trade off reading chapters, but on this book he held on when it was my turn and said he’d rather keep reading :) It’s a fun story that mixes magic with a realistic ‘best friend moved away, now what?’ dilemma. The kids are relatable, the scenarios are entertaining, and my kiddo is already looking forward to checking out other books in the series.”
Author Visits
If you’d like me to virtually visit your classroom, grade, or entire school this Fall, I’m taking bookings now. To launch Together Forever I am offering a limited number of free 30 minute visits in the week October 4th-8th. Email me to make a booking.
Here’s what one school librarian had to say: “Christine Evans, with her wonderful read aloud skills and calm demeanor, was a ray of light for our 2nd and 3rd grade students when she read her beautiful books.”
I love chatting with kids and while we can’t be in person, the virtual option has allowed me to visit schools from Australia to Dubai and all over the US. I’d love to visit your school too!
And finally…
I wanted to share a book that made me hug it when I finished it. Have you ever hugged a book? Or am I weird? There’s something about middle grade books in particular that make me want to hug them. Maybe it’s the tenderness of the characters at that age and the memories I have of that tricky time of life when you’re still a kid, but on the cusp of being a teenager. Share a huggable book in the comments if you’d like to tell me about it.
See you next month!
Christine xo
